Her head was spinning. She had a roommate, and it was a boy. She heard her alarm go off beside her bed, and turned it off rather quickly as she sat up in bed. Moving silently to the small kitchen, she began to cook up some eggs, bacon, and toast. Once the food had been cooked and the orange juice had been poured, she set up the table and ran her fingers through her mass of brown, tangled curls. She made a mental note to hop in the shower after breakfast. Moving toward Vince's room, she tapped gently on the door before opening it. It took her eyes only a moment to adjust.
She looked about, chewing gently on her lower lip. She still hadn't gotten used to the fact he was staying with her. Moving toward the curtains, she pulled them apart and turned toward him with a smile on her face. Ah yes. The smile that usually came so naturally for her. "Time to get up, Vince." She chirped sweetly.
"I made breakfast, and I thought since we're going to carpool that we could have a quick meal and take turns for the shower." Nodding faintly, she began to chew on her thumb. A part of her was glad that he had agreed to live with her, although the majority of her was still quite scared, considering she had never shared such a close proximity with somebody of the opposite gender. Her father and brother hardly counted in that equation. Maybe she was wrong, but she doubted it. "C'monnnnnnn.." She pleaded as a pout marred her tanned features.

The room was dark except for the lights coming off Vince’s laptop and cell phone. Both lay charging on the nearby desk while he slept. The only sound was the ticking of a clock on the nightstand and the occasional scuffling around as Zosime got up. Vince lay sleeping in naught but his boxers under the blankets, which he had pulled up to just under his ribs. His hair had been tied back but during the night that tie had come out as it always did, leaving his hair sprawled out over the covers like a puddle of black ink.
Vince barely heard her come in until she pulled open the curtains to let in the growing light of morning. "Time to get up, Vince,” she said sweetly. ”Hmmmm…,” was all he said as he pulled a pillow over his head to block the light. He didn’t want to get up just yet. He heard her say something about breakfast and carpooling, things he remembered them discussing when he had moved into the apartment. "C'monnnnnnn.." she said. Vince peeped out from under the pillow just in time to see her pout a little.
”Heh, ok ok I’m up,” he said. No way could he resist a cute pout like that from a girl in the pajamas she was wearing. It was just too cute! ”Just give me a minute to get dressed and all that,” he told her, stretching in the bed.

With the smallest of nods, she smiled brightly. "Okay..I'm going to take a quick shower. No peeking. Breakfast is on the table." She chirped, giving a mock bow before turning on her heel and walking out of the room. She shut the door gently behind her and grabbed the iced coffee in the fridge before going to the bathroom. Luckily, through her haze the previous night, she had remembered to get her clothes ready.
Closing the door and stripping away her clothing, she turned on the shower to the point where the steam from the water rose upward. She scrubbed quickly and washed her hair thoroughly before turning off the water and stepping out of the shower. It took her only moments to towel dry and tug on the clothing. She wore her usual attire of a flannel shirt and worn-out jeans. Once she had finished dressing, she left the bathroom with her dirty clothes, used towel, and wash rag in hand. "Shower's free, hon!" She called out after dumping the dirtied objects into the hamper and grabbing her iced coffee.
She about lunged for the couch and curled up on it, sipping the cold coffee with gusto while double-checking her homework. Nothing like last minute prep. Her damp curls hung around her face as her legs curled beneath her. She hummed quietly, ignoring her phone for the time being. Normally, she would have checked in with her father, but she simply wasn't feeling it today. "So..your truck or mine?" She teased.

"Okay..I'm going to take a quick shower. No peeking. Breakfast is on the table." she said before walking out of his room and over to her own. ”Heh, give me a little credit as a gentleman,” he said, getting out the bed and pulling on the sweat pants that he had changed into the night before after getting home from classes. He laid out his clothes on the unmade bed while he went to eat his breakfast. He made a mental note to make the bed and clean up a little before they left.
By the time Zosime was out of the shower, he had almost finished his breakfast. As she came back in with her pile of pajamas and bathroom articles, he finished up and put his dishes in the dishwasher. "Shower's free, hon!" she said. ”Ok I’ll be out in a few,” he replied, scurrying off to grab his clothes and bathroom articles. He made sure to grab his brush to brush out his hair once he was done. Vince took about as long in the bathroom as she had, showering and getting ready. It was towel drying his hair that took the longest time considering its length. Until it was dry, he looked like a drowned rat of some kind.
Taking an extra minute to tie his hair back in a ponytail, he gathered up his things from the bathroom and put his dirty clothes in his hamper before making the bed. Once done with that, he came out dressed in a dark navy shirt and black jeans. Zosime was lounged out on the couch with her coffee drink. Vince had to smile at her as he went to the kitchen to grab his cranberry drink from the fridge. ”Checking over the homework?” he asked, coming back into the living room to sit in the chair next to the couch she was on.

With the tang of coffee on her tongue, she flashed him a grin. "Depends on your definition.." She mused with a gleam in her eye. Shifting her weight, she made a move to stand as she wandered behind him and bent over to look behind his shoulder. "..Need help with your math, hon?" She queried softly. She was a sweet girl, granted she tended to wear her heart on her sleeve at times.
She rested her cheek gently against his temple, peering at his drink. "Ohhhh..can I try some?" She queried sweetly with a soft glint in her dark gaze. Her slender fingers slid gently through his hair. "Your hair would be perfect to style.." She cooed happily. Kissing his cheek gently, she moved to the side of the chair and sat down gently upon the arm of it.
Her dark gaze was trained on his expression as her hand gently gripped his. "..I feel..so..short around you, Vince.." She murmured, her thumb brushing lightly along his knuckles. She wasn't worried about being late, considering she was usually paranoid about being late so she simply ended up being way early. Leaning over, she gently kissed his cheek. "Now..how's about that math homework?" She queried teasingly as a smile quirked about her rose-hued lips.
"I bet I can make it more interesting than the one who teaches you." She teased, her eyes sparkling with mirth. She didn't offer anything more, but she did peck his cheek again. Her hand squeezed his as she wrapped her free arm around him in a gentle hug. Her brown curls hid a good portion of her face from view. "We can even swap stories like old ladies until it's time to go." She teased, her eyebrows wriggling suggestively.

Shifting her weight, Zosime made a move to stand and wandered behind him, bending over to look behind his shoulder. "...Need help with your math, hon?" she asked softly. ”I actually haven’t looked over it yet, to be honest,” he admitted. ”I usually leave weekend homework for Sunday. Leaves more time for riding and friends.” She rested her cheek against his temple and he had to smile. Not that long ago, she’d have never done that, nor would she have ran her fingers through his hair as she was now. "Your hair would be perfect to style..." she said, sounding like she was enjoying playing with his hair. ”You’re more than welcome to try if you like,” he told her.
"Ohhhh...can I try some?" she asked, looking at his drink. ”Sure, but I’ll warn you. It does have a bit of a bite to it. It’s cranberry,” he replied, passing her the glass he had his drink in. he didn’t mind sharing with her. She turned to look at his expression, her hand gently taking hold of his. "..I feel...so...short around you, Vince.." she said. In all fact, she was short to him. He was 5’10 and that was without the horse and the boots he wore. ”Sorry,” he replied. ”Nothing I can do about how tall I am.” He turned his head to plant a kiss on her cheek.
"Now...how's about that math homework?" she asked again. Vince thought a moment. ”Oh, I guess it can’t hurt to look over it a bit before we head to the barn,” he replied. "I bet I can make it more interesting than the one who teaches you." she teased, pecking his cheek again. Her hand squeezed his as she wrapped her free arm around him in a gentle hug. Her brown curls hid a good portion of her face from view, something that made him just want to move them aside to show her face. "We can even swap stories like old ladies until it's time to go." she added, her eyebrows wriggling suggestively. Vince had to laugh. ”I wouldn’t say like old ladies but I’m ok with telling a few if you are.”

Giggling, she took his drink. "Methinks my brew can beat yours." She teased, taking a sip of the drink. After a moment, her lips puckered and made for one, humorous scene. "..Or not." She murmured, reaching over to brush her lips along his. A mischievous light was in her dark gaze.
"Think they patented cranberry coffee yet?" She teased, her hand resting against his cheek. Briefly, her lips met his again. "I think..I'll need to get more flannel and jeans..mine are getting holey." She sighed, her lips forming a pout as she referred to her usual choice of clothing. Of course, she had probably ruined the mood by doing that, but she tended to babble when she was nervous. Shifting her weight, she tumbled into his lap with a squeak and a breathless giggle.
"Sorry, hon. Methinks I'm tipsy..minus the alcohol, of course." She flashed him a grin, twisting to face him. Tilting her head, she gazed into his eyes. "Mm..I love you, Vince.." She whispered, brushing her lips along his cheek. Her hands pulled away from his as her arms wrapped lightly around his neck.
With a soft hiccup, her lips pressed against his and remained there. Absentmindedly, her fingers began to play with his hair. For her, this was heaven. For somebody else, they would probably try to figure out what her major malfunction was. Back home, this kinda thing simply wasn't done. Her papa wouldn't be proud, but he would manage. He always did.

"Methinks my brew can beat yours." she teased, taking a sip of the drink. After a moment, her lips puckered and made for one humorous scene. "..Or not." She replied, reaching over to brush her lips against his. He took the opportunity to return the gesture with a soft kiss. ”Told you it had a bit of a bite to it,” he replied, pulling back from the kiss.
"Think they patented cranberry coffee yet?" she teased, her hand resting against his cheek. Briefly, her lips met his again. ”I don’t think so but I don’t think I’d drink that,” he replied with a laugh. "I think..I'll need to get more flannel and jeans..mine are getting holey." she said after a moment. ”Well, we are close to the mall,” he pointed out. ”I don’t see why we can’t go and get you something new. And maybe something that’s not just flannel and jeans.” He figured he’d throw that out there.
"Sorry, hon. Methinks I'm tipsy..minus the alcohol, of course." She twisted to face him. Tilting her head, she gazed into his eyes. "Mm..I love you, Vince.." She brushed her lips across his cheek. Vince had to pause a second to make sure he had heard that right. Sure she had whispered it but he swore she’d just said she loved him. Her hands pulled away from his as her arms wrapped lightly around his neck. Vince smiled. ”I love you too, Zosi,” he replied, wrapping his arms around her where she was in his lap. He smiled as he felt her start playing with his hair again. He liked this side of her.

Quirking her brow once more, she kissed him once more as a playful growl rose up in her throat. "Mm..not even if I made it? You hurt my feelings, sweetie.." She murmured against his lips. Shifting in his lap, she pulled slightly away. "S'pose I should get ready for the day." She smiled slightly and clambered out of his lap, giving him a final peck on the lips.
Walking to the couch, she picked up her books and homework. Moving to her room, she dumped the items in her backpack and tore a comb through her curled tresses. Several strands had been ripped out in the process, but she ignored it for the time being. She was used to the snarled strands being ripped out one by one. When she thought she had combed out the majority of the mess, she set down her brush and looked into the mirror that hung above her dresser with a slight frown. She did love Vincent, but she didn't see how he could feel the same. She was just..well..plain.
Lifting her hands, she attempted to right the mess of hair atop her head but to no avail. Her skin was too tanned, her cheekbones too high, and her threads were a joke. Peeking her head out of the door, she hesitated. "Uh..can you give Honey an apple or something for me? I have errands to run.." She had dropped the nicknames that she had crooned to him. With that having been said, she pulled away from the door and closed it gently behind her.

"Mm..not even if I made it? You hurt my feelings, sweetie.." She murmured against his lips. Shifting in his lap, she pulled slightly away. "S'pose I should get ready for the day." With a final peck on the lips, she went off to her room, leaving a confused boyfriend behind in the living room. ”The heck? Did I hurt her feelings?” he asked himself. It certainly seemed like he had be the sudden change in her demeanor.
”Zo? Something wrong?” he asked, going to her bedroom door. She peeked her head out the door. "Uh..can you give Honey an apple or something for me? I have errands to run.." she asked him. ”Uh yeah sure. I’ll give her one,” he replied. The drop in pet names hadn’t gone unnoticed by him either. So he had hurt her feelings. ”Hey, I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings or something,” he said, just seconds after she’d closed the door to her bedroom. He hated feeling like he’d hurt the girl he loved.
A million thoughts ran through his mind. Did she think he thought himself above her because of the way she dressed or something like that? Or was she doubting his loving her? It was driving him crazy.

Opening the door, she gazed up at him with wide eyes. "It's..not you." She mumbled, grasping his hand as she tugged him toward the bed. "C'mere.." She hiccuped, rubbing her eyes gently. "Be completely honest with me.." She ventured almost inaudibly.
"..Why's a guy like you going for a gal like me?" She queried softly, her expression pleading. Reaching up, she kissed him gently. A part of her wanted him desperately. Another part of her thought he was too good to be true. Her knight in dark, shining armor. She played with his hair, running her fingers through the silken strands.
"Be honest..I don't want any vague answers.." She mumbled, reaching up to catch his lower lip between her teeth. She was trying so hard to keep some semblance of sanity but it was hard when the guy she loved was right there. A soft noise of need rose up in her throat out. Her core was alight with liquid fire. "I love you..I really do..but why me?" She breathed.
Her brown curls partially hid her face from view. A part of her wanted him to take the one thing she had never thought to give another. Her heart hammered in her chest as her pulse roared through her veins. Her eyes gazed into his as her fingers dug gently into his shoulders. "I can't..promise you much, but I can give you what matters..you know?" She sighed softly, pulling away from him. Her dark gaze went downcast as her hair hid her face fully from view.

The next thing he knew, she had opened the door to her room again and was staring at him with a wide eyed look. "It's...not you." she mumbled, grasping his hand as she tugged him toward the bed. "C'mere.." she hiccupped, rubbing her eyes gently. He followed her to sit on her bed. "Be completely honest with me.." she said, barely above a whisper. "..Why's a guy like you going for a gal like me?"
Vince looked at her in silence for a minute. "Be honest…I don't want any vague answers.." she said, catching his lower lip in her teeth as she gave him yet another peck on the lips. He could tell she was holding back, like she was trying to keep herself sane around him. He’d seen the same thing in his past relationship with Jackson. Jackson had been the same way she was – unconfident in himself and wondering why in the world a lawyer’s son like Vince would want him. "I love you...I really do...but why me?" she added after a moment, pulling back to look at him now.
Vince took a second to move her curly locks off from where they were hiding her face. ”Honestly, I love you for you,” he replied. Seeing that that might be confused as a vague answer, he continued. ”I like your personality, your looks, everything about you,” he said. ”I don’t care how much you bring in or anything like that. I actually wonder what you see in me. I mean I’m just a city kid, and a spoiled one at that by my family and all.” "I can't...promise you much, but I can give you what matters…you know?" she said, looking down again. Vince brought her gaze back up to his own. ”That don’t matter to me, Zosi,” he replied. ”Believe me. I’m not out for one thing like most guys. We could date for years and never get to that point and I wouldn’t give a damn.” He looked her in the eye with every word, trying to get her to see that he loved her for who she was, not what she could do for or give to him.

His question struck her as..well..odd. "I love you because you aren't like most guys. You're sweet, actually give a damn, and you're horse crazy." A small smile flickered over her features. What else could she say to him? She didn't know what to do. Stepping back, she ran her fingers through her hair.
She gripped his hand gently. "I don't..have a clue what to do around you..about this..it's all so new to me. You're..not just the first person I've socialized with but..in seventeen years, you're also my first boyfriend..pathetic, right?" She laughed weakly, her eyes returning to the floor. She stayed oddly silent for a few moments. "..Growing up on the ranch, we didn't..have a lot and what we did have..we held dear to us like it was something we'd never get back.." She hesitated but only for moment.
"My brother..he was the wild one..still is. Different gal every night..and then..I-I..saw the look on their faces when he told them to amscray. I-I..didn't want that..so..I-I..avoided it all together.." She offered him a small smile as she kissed him gently. Her shoulders rolled gently to and fro. "I love you..more than you'll ever know.." She murmured, stroking his cheek.

"I love you because you aren't like most guys. You're sweet, actually give a damn, and you're horse crazy." Zosime replied to his question of why she loved him of all guys. She smiled and stepped back, running her fingers through his hair again. He didn’t know why but he liked when she done that.
Zosi gripped his hand gently in hers. "I don't..have a clue what to do around you..about this..it's all so new to me. You're..not just the first person I've socialized with but..in seventeen years, you're also my first boyfriend..pathetic, right?" she said, laughing weakly with eyes returning to look at the floor. Vince smiled. ”I’ll let you in on a little secret,” he replied. ”You’re not the only one. Believe it or not, you’re only my second relationship ever, and I’m eighteen. First one didn’t end so well…” He trailed off at the end of that statement.
"..Growing up on the ranch, we didn't..have a lot and what we did have..we held dear to us like it was something we'd never get back.." She hesitated but only for moment. She murmured, stroking his cheek. ”Same for me Zosi,” he replied, reaching up to place a hand over hers that lay on his cheek. ”And I won’t ever treat you like you say your brother treated those other girls.”

Nodding faintly, she giggled nervously. Reaching up and placing her hands on either side of his face, she kissed him gently. "Don't..wake me up yet, Vince.." She murmured. Pulling away for a split second, she pecked his cheek and wandered over to the closet to pull it open. Her head tilted as she shuffled through the clothing, her fingers trailing along the flannel and jean cloth. A large part of her wished he would hold her from behind like they did in the movies, although she wasn't about to voice this aloud.
Why would she do that when she already felt wretched? She turned to face him as a smile danced about her lips. "Ever hear of bedbugs?" She queried innocently, wandering toward him. She appeared innocent, although her hand was now pressed to his chest as he reached up to kiss him gently. "I think you could find our picture beside the definition.." She teased, lifting her hand to poke his nose.
Generally speaking, she was happy. She loved him with everything she had, and she couldn't help but wish he'd end the nagging sensation in the pit of her stomach. It was definitely new to her, although it wasn't a bad feeling, per say. It was just..odd. Her eyes flickered faintly as she resumed playing with his hair. Playing with his dark locks seemed to put her at ease. She nibbled on his lower lip, smiling.

Vince returned the kiss she gave him. "Don't..wake me up yet, Vince.." she murmured before pulling away again and wandering over to her closet. ”If this is a dream of any kind, I don’t want to wake up,” he replied with a smile. Seeing her thumbing through the various flannels and jeans in her closet, he got up and went to give her a hug from behind. Probably a cheesy movie-like thing to do but whatever.
Zosime turned to face him then, laying her hand on his chest now and smiling. "Ever hear of bedbugs?" she asked innocently, wandering toward him. "I think you could find our picture beside the definition.." Vince had to smile at that comment. ”Bedbugs?” he asked. ”I think that’s the first time I’ve heard that one.” He pulled her against him in a hug. ”But it’s cute still,” he added.
Zosime was playing with his hair again when he remembered something. ”Uh, we might want to get to the barn,” he said. ”Lily and Honey might think we aren’t coming today or something. Plus I think you said something about having errands to do?” He hoped she didn’t take the gentle reminder of their horses and her job and errands the wrong way. ”Maybe later, I’ll let you style my hair or something,” he added, adding a light poke in her nose like she did to him.

Sighing softly, she nodded faintly. "..I-I can help you learn the course..for the show.." She murmured, reaching up to kiss him deeply. Her palm rested gently against his cheek. "We could go to lunch after.." She murmured as a smile took hold of her features. Love him, indeed.
"If you get your keys, I'll meet you down in the truck. I have to grab a couple things to help with your appearance and whatnot because it needs to be perfect for the judges." Offering another smile, she kissed him again and wrapped her arms around his torso. For some reason, unbeknownst to her, she enjoyed the mere simplicity of being wrapped up in his arms. She felt safe there. Heck, she felt like she could conquer anything in his arms. One of the many reasons she loved him, although she had only given him the basics.
Her eyes flickered faintly as she brushed her lips along his jawline. "Be a good boy, sweetie.." She cooed, a smile flickering once more over her features. "You won't regret it.." She purred, poking his nose with a giggle. "Can you get a couple sugar cubes on your way down, sweetie?" She queried softly.

"..I-I can help you learn the course...for the show.." Zosime murmured, reaching up to kiss him deeply. Her palm rested gently against his cheek. "We could go to lunch after.." ”That actually sounds like a really good idea,” Vince replied, returning her kiss. "If you get your keys, I'll meet you down in the truck. I have to grab a couple things to help with your appearance and whatnot because it needs to be perfect for the judges." [/i] she added, wrapping her arms around him in a hug. Vince smiled and hugged her back. ”Sounds like a plan. Just don’t be too long,” he added with a smile. "Be a good boy, sweetie.." She cooed, a smile once more crossing her face. ”Heh, when am I not good?” he asked her teasingly. "You won't regret it.." She purred, poking his nose with a giggle. "Can you get a couple sugar cubes on your way down, sweetie?" she asked him. ”Yea, I’ll grab a little bag full of them on my way down,” Vince replied. Giving her one last long hug and kiss, he left her room to go to his own and get his keys. He made sure to grab his wallet and cell phone as well. Couldn’t be driving without his license now could he? Once he had his keys and other articles, he went to the pantry and got a little sandwich bag full of sugar cubes to give to the horses. After that, it was time to head down to the truck to await Zosime’s meeting him there.[/blockquote][/size]

Taking in a quiet breath, she nodded slowly. After he had left to go to his truck with sugar cubes in hand, she dashed for the bathroom and grabbed his brush, a hair tie, and a clip. Moving into her room, she grabbed her travel bag, her coffee mug, and her riding clothes. After another moment of deliberation, she grabbed her planning book, the guidelines for the competition, the box of grooming supplies, and her radio. She shuffled around for her keys, phone, and wallet. Upon finding them, she stuffed them into her bag and was out the door rather quickly. Shutting the door behind her, she locked it and took the stairs two at a time.
She opened the door to his truck and climbed into the seat, dropping the items on the floor in front of her. "Told you I'd be quick.." She chirped, leaning over to peck his lips gently. Lowering her hand, she rested it upon his knee and squeezed gently. "Shall we go?" She cooed, her eyes sparkling with mirth. She shifted in her seat, buckling herself in.
Her fingers trailed lazily through his hair as she settled into the seat. "Mm..hey, Vince.." She ventured. After a moment, she fell oddly silent as her dark gaze became distant. Moving her free hand forward, she turned on the radio. With the music filtering through the speakers, she relaxed. When she had relaxed in silence, her eyes drifted closed, although it was obvious she was awake.

Vince took the two flights of stairs down to the parking lot. A few spaces away, his black hummer truck sat parked in a spot not too far from the building. Walking over to it, Vince unlocked the door and got in. He cranked the truck and listened to the radio as he waited for his girlfriend to come down. He didn’t have to wait long as she was down not even five minutes after he was. "Told you I'd be quick.." she said, putting her bag in the floor board and leaning over to kiss him. Vince returned the kiss. ”That was pretty fast,” he remarked as she placed her hand on his knee.
"Shall we go?" she asked, buckling herself into the seat. ”Yep,” he replied, putting the truck in reverse, backing out of the spot then putting it in drive again to drive off to the academy. While he drove, he felt her fingers messing with his hair again. "Mm..hey, Vince.." she started then fell silent. ”Yea, Zosi?” Vince asked. He glanced over at her as he drove. She looked like she was asleep with her eyes closed but he could tell she was awake. ”What’s up?”
