Parents: Genevieve Leone & Marco Leone
Siblings: Scott Leone
Other: A dog named Talla
Riding History: California started riding when she was three years old because her family owned many horses as well as bred and raced thoroughbreds. She was given her own pony when she turned six, but she was very old and had problems with her legs, so as Cali grew older, they had to sell her pony. She was soon given a 15.2 hh gelding. She showed with him for many years after that, but one day while she was practicing for a show, she tried to make him jump one of the higher jumps, and he didn't make it, breaking both of his front legs. He was put down and now California refuses to jump that height of jump or any higher for fear of losing her mare to it.

Example Post: minimum 200 words! The rain dribbled down in light waves. It was as if the sky was feeling the same pain that I felt for the loss of my beautiful gelding, and was finally releasing it's depressing tears. My horse and I moved around the arena at a slow walk. I watched the 3'4 jump, knowing that I would have to jump it sooner or later. In fact, I had heard that the next show was going to have at least three of them plus some higher ones. I let a tremendous sigh of hurt slip out of my body and a small tear rolled down my cheek before I quickly wiped it away at the sound of another rider coming into the arena. I just briefly glanced at the horse and rider before I slapped Ayre on the flank with the crop and kicking her hard in the sides. She quickly moved into a canter, and I moved her around the arena a few times before letting her jump a short triple and pulling her back into a walk.
I watched the other horse and rider for a moment, admiring the perfection of the horse's jumps. Oh how I wished that I could have that horse. He really was a beauty in the arena. I watched them jumping the 3'4 jump and up before I finally decided to give the 3'4 a try. I smiled sadly and pushed Ayre into an easy canter, lining her up with the jump with ease. Taking a deep breath, I cleared my mind of everything except the jump. This was it. I was finally going to do it. As we approached the jump, I rose into position and took a deep breath. Holding my breath, I counted the mare's step before... BAM! She slid to a stop, and I hit the back of her neck hard. Luckily enough for me, she hadn't turned away from the jump and had just shifted her weight to her haunches to slide gracefully to a stop.
I didn't feel so lucky, though, and my anger boiled inside of me. "Damn it Ayre!" I protested, slapping her hard with the crop on the shoulder. I kicked her hard and whipped her again, making her rear slightly and move into a canter, moving around the jump. I watched the jump as we passed it, and my anger died down a little. "Damn..." I said again, slowing Ayre to a walk and moving her around the arena. I watched the other team of horse and rider as they jumped the higher jumps in the arena and I sighed with longing, knowing I would probably not be able to get my mind to forget about the accident enough to let me jump the same as the other team. I shook my head and looked down at Ayre for a moment, feeling bad that I had hit her so hard. I lowered my hand and rubbed her shoulder gently before looking back at what was in front of us.
Suddenly, I heard hoofbeats coming closer to me, and I turned to see the other horse and rider trotting over. The rider happened to be a pretty hot guy which was a plus because he was an awesome rider as well. Two of my favorite things in one. I returned his smile, noticing his faint wink, and I became that much more interested in the mysteries that this guy had to offer. "Hi, my names Ashton, and you are a wonderful rider." He stated, and I blushed, knowing that it was probably just a pick-up line. Of course, he had just given a compliment, so there was definitely reason to blush. I gave a small smile and gave him a once-over before I spoke. "Hey. I'm Evelyn, and thanks, but I know for a fact that you're ten times better than me. I mean... I can't even jump the 3'4!" I said, giving a wide smile before looking away from him and down at Ayre.
