Chance sighed, dawn was just breaking, he loved this time of the day for some reason. The seventeen year old boy smiled softly and smelled the smells surrounding him. The smell of pines came to his mind, a memory. He was with his parents, sitting next to pine tree, him, his mom, dad and new baby sister were having a picknik. There was everything layed out, he remembered t
he disposable plates were green because that was his favorite color at the time. His mom had bought them just because of him. They werre smiling aand happy as they ate the little sandwiches his mom packed. Oh, Chance could remember that day very well. After they ate, him and his dad jumped into the nearby lake and played around till dawn, splashing and shouting. Chance felt a tear slither down his cheek, oh why was he being such a big baby. What was wrong with him, he; a seventeen year old boy... crying?! A pale hand shot up to wipe the evil, shiny tear away. But no matter how much he kept the truth locked away, he couldn't ignore it forever. His parents were.. dead, there was nothing he could do about it and he had to get over it. It happened over a decade ago, and Chance still couldn't rid of the overflowing saddness it brought him.
Sprite snorted and stomped her hoof snagging all the little bites of grass she could get. The sound threw Chance back to the present and he whipped his head around surprised. The friesian mare snorted at his actions and stepped back surprised. Chance sighed and slowly walked to her, "Easy there, I'm sorry girl, I was day dreamin' again." he said apologeticly to the horse. Sprite snorted and nudged his shoulder in response. The boy grinned; satisfied that she had officially forgiven him, it was all cool. Now that he thought about it, when had Chance turned into such a thinker? Ever since you decided to get hold of your pathetic life., the usual nasty voice entered his head. Was he going crazy, in the past few days, he moved schools, heard wierd voices, falls in love at first sight, what next; a dragon appears? Chance grinned at his thoughts, the world was going crazy.
At the moment though, Chance was kinda just hanging at the lake for some reason, he had let Sprite loose. The mare was chomping on grass freely; but Chance knew she would come if he whistled. Ah so far, life was getting a bit better, now that he thought about it. He always felt way to sorry for himself, man up Chance, the voice said again. The boy shook his head, and scowled, that was quite annoying. Sprite looked up , then walked over to him and whickered. He smiled and snuck out a peppermint, letting her muzzle grab it and chomp. Well, her breath would smell good, Chance smiled. You could always count on your horse to cheer you up, Sprite was exactly that.
