The day was perfect. The sky was a beautiful, bright blue with little to no clouds flitting across it to flaw it's wonderful perfection. The sun shone high in the sky, a lovely orange and yellow ball of light giving its warmth to the living creatures of the planet named Earth. Animals were alive and everywhere, and one could clearly tell that the season was spring. Three squirrels ran around a fallen tree, the two in the back fighting often, symbolizing that the other must be female. Birds, hidden away in the thick branches of the trees, chirped loudly to one another, the males singing their beautiful mating songs. A large apartment building sat in the middle of all this perfection, and a young girl named California Hope Leone had just started moving in to her own apartment. The day was absolutely perfect for her. Of course, it would have made it even better if she were riding her horse, Dust in the Wind, but the stress from trying to train her was really wearing Cali out, and so taking a day away from the horse would probably do her some good.
She was sitting in the lobby, not really knowing what to do. Sure, she should have been trying unpack everything before her new roommate got to the apartment, but every time she would go upstairs and look into her room, she got overwhelmed and went back downstairs. After a while, she had decided to just wait for her roommate. California sighed as she watched the TV downstairs. She could be doing something so much more productive than just sitting on a couch watching horse racing on TV. Then again, all she would do was walk upstairs, look into her room, feel overwhelmed, and walk out to go right back to where she was and sit on the couch watching horse racing. Of course, that didn't really bother her considering the fact that she liked horse racing. In fact, she sometimes wished that she had a Thoroughbred so that she could flat race it just like her dad used to do.
California sighed again as she thought of her dad. He was such a famous breeder and horse racer, and she would never be able to live up to that. Of course, she could live up to his name by being an superior rider, but that was out of question when she had a horse like Dust in the Wind. The mare was far too rowdy to try and ride anymore, and it was far too stressful for California to keep her any longer. Then again, she couldn't really sell the mare, for that would be just like losing her grey gelding, and she couldn't go through that pain again. Therefore, she had decided to get some help in training the mare. As much as she hated that, she had asked for help from a handsome young guy that went by the name of Lucas Blackwell. He had offered her his help after Dusty had thrown her off, and California, though very reluctantly, had accepted it. She wasn't one to gladly accept help when it came to horses, though with unpacking her stuff, she would really take anyone that was set on helping her. Again, the blonde sighed as she focused her attention back on the TV. This day was going by far too slow for her liking.

The sun shone high over head heating the lands and giving nutrients to the plants as they started to blossom again as spring came. There wasn't a cloud in sight and the sky bright blue. In fact, the color of the sky matched his eyes perfectly. As he went for his daily afternoon run, Blake couldn't help but smile to himself at all the animals playing. He passed baby deer and laughed as the slightly bigger one tackled the smaller one. He ran on, keeping a steady pace, and passed even more animals playing around. He heard the chirps of birds and the clatter of squirrels. Blake laughed lightly, he was such an outdersman. He couldn't stand being inside when he could be outside running and riding horses. He was even about to get two new horses from an auction her had bid at. One was a stallion who has was amazing at hunter's prospect. The other one a gelding that was a stadium jumper or three day eventer. Both of the horses seemed perfect for Blake seeing as his strongest point was jumping. He was even more happy about getting a stallion so that he could breed it. He couldn't wait for them to be his.
Once he got to the end of the trail he was running on, he slowed to a simple walk. Catching his breath as his chest heaved in out his muscles flexed under his black shirt that matched the color of his hair. He ran his hand through his black hair as it fell over his bright blue eyes. He absentmindedly ran a finger over his snake bite piercing as he walked on along the road. Blake was in word sexy. Though he was a major player as well. He slowly walked along side the road for a few minutes not really knowing where he was going. After a few minutes, he decided he would go and take a break in the apartment building across the street. While he didn't have his own apartment, he figured he could visit with friends or even just sit down in the lobby and watch the horse race that was supposed to be going on that day. Having thought of this, he made his way across the street which was fairly busy with cars and pedestrians alike. One he got across the street he walked into the apartment building. He was surprised to find it not that crowded in the lobby.
He looked around for someone he knew but didn't see anyone at first. Though once he walked farther into the lobby, he spotted someone that he had talked to a few times watching the TV. He gave a sly grin, ran his hair through his jet black hair again, and walked over to her. He sat down in the chair next her before speaking. "Hey Cali, what are you doing sitting down here alone?" he asked her with a grin. He had, had his eye on her for a while and couldn't help but grin at the thought that he would get to know her better today.

The race was captivating. All of the horses were so beautiful... So powerful and strong. Thoroughbreds were amazing horses, bred to race and be the best horse that the races have ever seen. Each of them had a unique name that matched their beauty and grace perfectly. California only wished that she were there to see the horses in person. Sighing, the young blond watched the race as the horses flashed on the screen. Each horse had their name, gender, rider, stable, and breeder listed under it as it's picture flashed on the screen. Cali watched the horses as they walked, watching for her father's name as the breeder. Sure enough, a beautiful bay filly name Prayer and a Promise was bred by Jack Leone. Cali turned up the volume a little to hear what the announcers had to say about the filly. "This horse is absolutely magnificent. She has already won three gold cups and tonight, she will be going for her fourth!" One of the announcers exclaimed, and Cali couldn't help but to smile. "That's right, Bill, but we all know why she's done so well. Miss Prayer and a Promise's sire was Prayer of a Life and her dam was Promise a gift! Two very amazing horses in the racing world, and it seems that she has gotten those genes." The other announcer stated.
"Prayer and a Promise has the highest chance of winning this race, and we talked with Jack Leone earlier and asked him what he expected out of his lovely filly today." Bill said, and with that, the screen switched to the face of her father, one thousand microphones in his face, and all of them waiting for a reply to the question that someone had asked. "Well Miss Prayer is an unpredictable filly and you really never know what to expect from her. But this morning when Apollo was exercising her, she looked great and that's a great sign, so now all we can do is wait and see." Cali let a half smile onto her face as her father spoke. He wasn't the best at answering questions, and he really hated that everyone wanted to ask him questions about his horses, but he answered them, none-the-less. The young blond sighed and relaxed back into the couch, turning down the volume and waiting for the race to start. She ran an loose hand through her hair and looked around the room, looking for a friend or at least someone that she knew. Finally, she spotted Blake Skylar Greene walking over to her, and she smiled shyly.
He walked over and sat down in the chair next to her. California looked him over, noticing that he was in clothes that someone might wear for exercising. his black hair was shiny, healthy, and all around handsome. And his blue eyes? Like never ending pools of bright blue water. Someone could drown in those beautiful eyes... California thought, blushing slightly, as if he could have possibly heard her thoughts. She looked back at the TV, hoping that the blush wasn't noticeable as she answered Blake. "Hi Blake. I'm... Waiting for my roommate... She hasn't shown up yet, though, so I don't know when she's going to be here..." She shrugged slightly and glanced at him before speaking again. "What are you doing here? Do you have an apartment here?'
