CONTEST! [of the improvement kind]

Hey guys, this ones going to be really super easy for you, and is more of a money earning exercise than a competition. There will be no first/second/third unless someone does something fanfreakingtastic.

So what's up?

I want you to give me one thing - big or small - to do on/to AEA to make us better. What kind of things? Suggest things like:


Header image. (small)
Layout colours. (large)
Codes added/taken away. (large)
Plot changes. (large)
New features. (depending)


So on and so forth (the "size" of the suggestion indicated in the brackets).


Small suggestions = $500 in any ONE characters pocket, + 15 credits.
Large suggestions = $1000 in any ONE characters pocket, + 50 credits.



If you're going to suggest something, make sure it's a good one - if something bothers you or could use improvement, BRING IT UP. It can be literally anything (within reason, don't say, "oh the fonts too big here" or "I don't like how you have ADMIN in your name" kind of deal. Oy.)

Only thing: if you're going to suggest something large ie. plot change, I'm going to PM you asking for suggestions on how to make it better. Even POST HERE saying how to make it better - really! For the betterment of the RP experience, I say. ;)

IF YOU ARE suggesting a code be added, post a link to where I can get the code, or quote it here for me. So I don't have to go running around like a headless chicken looking for it.

Layout Colors

You so don't have to do this, but I was thinking more blacks and grays would look good with the category colors, or if you want to make it a bright site, go with some lighter colors like light blues, purples, yellows, and stuff like that. I have always found that lighter colors are more appealing on sites that have to do with stables and such.

New Features?

So I was thinking that in the auctions board, you could have like monthly auctions that have wild horses or unwanted horse (people can PM you with a horse that they want auctioned off) and then people's characters could buy them out of there. Same with the sales... You could put a few horses up just in case people don't know how they want their horse to turn out.

New Codes

I'm not sure what the exact code is, but what is really pretty is when sites have little designs at the top and bottom like this site. It's basically like the site is in a giant table, and as long as it doesn't stretch the site, it looks really pretty.

New Feature

Western riding... I have noticed that all of the events here are english, and a guest the other day asked about western. I don't believe I caught the answer to their question, but I think a little western to here couldn't hurt...

Plot Change?

This really isn't a plot change I don't guess, but it does involve modifying the plot... Plus I already have too many "New Feature" Categories... Anyway, I was thinking we could put a location such as Miami, Florida or something along those lines so that everyone knows where the stable is located.
(My apologies if this has already been done)

New Feature

An indoor arena. I have noticed that the outdoor arena has three posts in it, which is quite a few, so maybe we could add an indoor arena? Plus in the summer, when it's hotter, the students and horses will need more shade, and in an indoor arena, you can set up fans and such...

Okay I think this is my last one... I was looking over the boards, and I saw the pet store... Soooo I was thinking we could put pets in there for people to adopt such as rabbits, hamsters, dogs, cats, fish, etc... So that way that is kinda like an actual store...

Western Riding. -- I will put an emphasis on this when I get home... The new banner will display western and I will get some western related stuff up and about. Nice one!


Location. -- We're in Edmonton, Alberta! I will add that to the plot - I need to edit it anyway. Thanks for this one! Easy to overlook.

New Feature

Okay so I know that we have Hunter/Jumper and Eventing. I also know that Cali brought up the idea of Western. What about Cross Country and Dressage? or even make it Three Day Eventing

• Cross Country - Great for speed horses, once that don't do so well in hunter/jumper or eventing arena's but were taken off the race track (if they were a Thoroughbred like Lucas' Snapshot) It's a great adrenaline rush and take just as much focus as arena jumping if not more being at higher speeds and if you hit a jump it doesn't fall off the cups like arena events.
  
  
• Dressage - shows the flexibility and companionship of horse and rider. It shows the skill level and the ability to work you horse on a flat. It can be very beautiful and fun to ride!(Don't you think!) It's a great way to test a riders skill if you possibly get riders to switch horses and see how they work with a horse that they have never ridden before.
  
  
• Three Day Eventing - A tough three days of Dressage, Cross Country, and Show Jumping! Must I say more?

Another thing I was concerned with was the people who have never really ridden (Like my Nolan) that can't compete at the high levels of skilled riders. We could possibly have different level event like Beginner, Novice, Intermediate ect... some flat other's jump ect.

One more unless another pops into my head like all the others (This was supposed to just be on CC and Dressage XD) while I am typing this.

I only bring these up because not everyone does just eventing.

Just wanted to add to Cheyenne's post - Hope you don't mind, Cheyenne.

Side saddle is also something that could perhaps be bought to the site.
You could perhaps incorporate it into showing.
So in-hand showing and ridden showing
Ridden showing to include side saddle.
In-hand classes would be good for young stock.

Working hunter?
We do showing a lot different in the UK too. Our working hunter is a lot different to your US hunter.

I know this is based in Canada but just thought I'd throw that idea out there.

Currently i've got my screen zoomed in because i'm finding it difficult to read text. That could just be me being a blind bat.
So i was thinking.
Perhaps a creamy brown and then a darker font? Dark brown or black?

Example:
Sort of a creamy/yellow

Or,
light brown with a white/cream text or black text?

I was trying to do more hex/colour codes but photoshop is being a moron.
Can get them if you want some ideas?

Layout Idea #2

Wow. I just came on and i love the new skin.
The colours are awesome.

But it's the picture at the top that is bothering me a little bit. I know a lot of people have asked for western and thats cool. Westerns fun.
But i think there should be a neutral picture at the top of the board. Not advertising any discipline.
Like the old picture was just a silhouette of a girl and her horse. That was great because then it appealed to both english and western riders.
I know if english riders come on and see a big western picture they're going to be put off and think its mainly western.

It was certainly the picture that appealed to me when I joined. It's the first thing you see.

Could we please have a thread somewhere that says what the instructors teach? I had to go through all of them to make sure jumping wasn't taken when I made Henry, and since there are soo many disciplines without teachers it might encourage people to... make some?

Same goes with classes. IE I'm pretty sure someone teaches equine reproduction, but I have no idea who. I also have no idea if anyone but me teaches a non-eq class or if Aspire even offers non-eq classes.

Board/Mall Suggestions
- Coffee Shop of some variety (IDK what they have in Canada). It was Henry's idea, he's an addict.

Maybe you could re-order the categories so that the tab for Alberta is after the tag for Edmonton? It's not absolutely necessary, but since the school's actually in Edmonton it makes more sense to me?

Actually, while I'm at it, you could move the Sales & Services to the top with all the other non-role play type stuff and Aspire Stables down with the rest of the RP boards. I honestly don't care if you do this or not though, it doesn't matter to me in the least.

Yeahh most of those are just me being the slightest bit OCD, so feel free to disregard them completely xD

I thought of one more thing today.

A thread or side table that says how many of each category we have here. So something like this:

Adult Males: 4
Adult Females: 2
High School Males: 17
High School Females: 19

So on and so forth. It's easier on the members if they are looking to make a gender/ age that is not popular on the site.

Also, having a "Who Plays Who" Thread would be helpful.
